If you have a refrigerator at home, there are various ways you can use it efficiently to save money and energy.  It costs a lot more to run an empty freezer than a full one.  So keep it full.  Avoid keeping the door of the refrigerator open for long.  The longer you keep it open, the more the cold air escapes.  So, your refrigerator would have to work harder to chill the air again and again.  This way, it will consume more electricity.  You will be surprised to know how much money you can save annually just by opening the fridge door less frequently.  Refrigerators that have freezers at the top are more energy efficient than those having freezers on the side.  So, make sure your freezer is located at the top.

Another savings advice is to try to shop cheaply.  Whenever you go out shopping, make a list and a budget.  Do not buy on impulse.  Only buy the things that you need to buy.  A good way to avoid impulse buying is to visit the shop less often.  The more you frequent the market, the more is your urge to buy things.  You must use energy efficient fluorescent compact light bulbs.  They last a lot longer.  Try and recycle as much as you can.  This way, you not only save money, but you also do a great favour to society.  There are a variety of ways in which you can save money around the house.  You just need to think a little, and find alternate means of doing so.  The idea is not only to save your money, but also to save the resources of our planet.  You cannot waste the already depleted resources.  You also need to think of your future generations.
