Eggs
Eggs have had quite a bit of bad press in the past because they contain fat and cholesterol. In spite of this, research has shown that adults can safely consume at least 2 eggs a day without increasing their cholesterol levels.
There are so many benefits to eating eggs - they are one of the most nutritious foods you can buy, and they are cheap! The high amount of easily digestable protein is really filling so you wont feel the need to eat as much throughout the day. They are rather low in calories too, approximately 80 kcals per medium sized egg, so long as you dont cook them in lard!
Eggs contain a large range of nutrients such as high quality protein, vitamins and minerals and they are NOT high in saturated fats. The vitamins include A, B (especially rich in B2 Riboflavin and B12), C and a good source of vitamin D, E and K. Mineral wise, they contain phosphorus, iodine - which healps your body make thyroid hormones, selenium - which is reported to reduce a mans risk of prostate cancer, iron, zinc and choline, which is important for health and brain functioning.
For healthier eggs try to stick to Free Range, Organic, and there is even an Omega 3 enriched egg.
